The Harmony Hotel is a special place for me and my family, when we first moved to Nosara in 1999 we stayed at a small hotel on the edge of Guiones Beach, in the heart of the Nosara jungle. The hotel, back then Hotel Villa Taipei, was our home for a short while as we settled into Nosara. Some of my earliest memories happened in that magical tropical oasis, at only steps from the beach. Which is why when Matthew Morris, Brand and Marketing Director of the Harmony Projects reached out to me to work on a design project for the Harmony Hotel, I just couldn't say no!
As a part of the Harmony Hotel guest experience, we carefully designed and illustrated a beautiful guestbook complete with a custom hotel map, menu, welcome note, and postcard. We defined the style of the materials as inspired by the natural tropical elegance of the hotel. I hand-illustrated the map, and created the map key. It has been inspiring to see the designed materials in the beautiful Harmony setting, and also to see how these designs have informed the future brand materials that Harmony creates.
It filled my heart to work on these materials, reminiscing on my pool-filled and sandy-feet days in the charming setting of Villa Taipei. It's an honor to continue being a part of the Harmony Hotel family, whether it's designing their guestbook, illustrating their map, working on one of their brands—Roota, Taller Toc Toc, or creating custom artisic experiences at El Campo studio space.
¡Feliz año nuevo! Just coming back online and wanted to say bravo on the map design. I like this style, I think it looks really charming but still elegant. It made me smile when I opened it!
