Spirit of Place was an art exhibition of a collection of works by my dear friend and colleague, Eva Fakatselis. Eva approached me to create the visual identity and collateral for her art show. It was such an honor and so much fun! Her artwork and life story are incredibly inspiring.
Fakatselis has produced a system of motifs—of trees, crabs, shells, birds, and self-portraiture—that conjure the spirit of this place and that double as talismans, finding visual expression for the re-imagining of herself and her world after cancer treatment.

Inspired by nature
The collateral we designed had to perfectly complement Eva’s artwork. I made sure her artwork was always front and center, framed by a beaufitul typographic composition. We were deeply inspired by a modern museum look and feel, without losing that unique spirit of Eva’s work.
I met Eva in 2019 through a mutual friend, we were the creative Eva’s! We started collaborating on projects and it is always such a pleasure to work with Eva–she has an amazing eye for detail and always comes up with the best ideas.
Creating the visual identity for Spirit of Place was an absolute honor. The exhibition was beautiful and it is so inspiring to see the evolution of her artwork. Together we created a set of posters for the exhibition and for sale, the map and line list, postcards, and even a little catalogue.
